SNACKS & CONVENIENCE
McCain packs pizza into pockets
A dinnertime favourite is transforming into a quick, convenient snack as McCain expands its Pizza Pocket range.
WHEN studies, projects and exams pile on to university students further into the semester, finding time to cook may become more difficult. The McCain Foods team has expanded its Pizza Pocket range with two new flavours to offer students a convenient snack for study breaks.
Hawaiian and Super Supreme flavours have now joined the Pizza Pocket range, which initially launched with the classic Cheese & Bacon flavour, to provide even more variety.

Food & Drink Business that McCain was excited to be bringing the new flavours to pizza-loving consumers.
“We know university students are time-poor, and value convenient, on-the-go snack options, and many young Australians would view McCain Pizza Pockets with fond nostalgia as a tuckshop staple from their time in primary school,” says Briant.
“More broadly, McCain Foods prides itself on delivering delicious and convenient products for the whole family.
“Asconsumersacross
Australia become increasingly busy, ensuring we continue to produce snack and meal options in a quick and convenient manner remains central to product development within the business.”
The Hawaiian
Pizza Pocket is made
with a traditional crust filled with mozzarella cheese, ham and pineapple, while Super Supreme is filled with mozzarella cheese, ham, capsicumandmushroom.
The new flavours are available in the frozen pizza aisle of Woolworths in packs of four for RRP $7.50, while the classic Cheese & Bacon Pizza Pockets are sold across all Australianretailers. ✷
The Koja kick
A peanut butter boost in bar form is the healthy, new snack range from Koja to replace the afternoon sugar rush.
KATEJohanssonstartedKoja in 2013 wanting consumers to get the vitamins, macro and micronutrients they need through real, unprocessed and low sugar foods.
The latest natural peanut butter bars from Koja were created to substitute the sweet, afternoon snack with an energising, healthy and protein rich bar, made from only natural ingredients.
“I started Koja to educate people on their nutrition and the benefits of real food in a simple, easy and delicious way,” says Johansson.
“I firmly believe you should be able to read any food label and picture every single ingredient to understand what you’re putting into your body.”
The new range is made with Australian peanuts, rich in protein, and is available in three flavours:
● ChocChipCrunch,with organic activated buckwheat kernels, chia seeds and cacao nibs;
● PeanutCaramel, apeanut and cashew butter base with roasted peanuts and organic rice malt syrup for fudge texture;and
● Chocolate, blendingpeanut butter with dark chocolate. The bars contain less than a
teaspoon of sugar and have up to five grams of protein.
“The health ramifications of sugar are well known, but people don’t make the same connection to natural sugars. They have the same effect, spiking blood sugar levels, contributing to weight gain and creating energy peaks and crashes,” says Johansson.
“While natural foods are best, sugar is sugar and should be kept to a minimum, especially if you cannot burn it off, like when sitting at your desk for an afternoon snack.”
“I hope by creating delicious and healthy snacks that are a ‘no brainer’ – easy to understand, no hidden ingredients, nasties or excess sugar – that people can give their body the energy it needs to getonwithenjoyinglifeinstead of stressing over their diet.”
The range can be purchased in Coles stores and on the Kojawebsite, whereconsumers can access the full product range, which includes, bars, protein pancake mixes and breakfasttoppers. ✷
