Uncharted waters
THESE are unprecedented times. COVID-19 has brought the world to its knees as countries grapple to slow infection rates and people struggle to comprehend the scale of the situation while bearing the brunt of its impact.
Food & Drink Business will be making some changes to ensure we weather this storm with our team and brand intact. For the foreseeable future, the print edition will move to bi-monthly. This means the next issue will be May-June.
Our bi-weekly eNews and PLAY Food & Drink Business video news bulletin will remain. That’s right, my face will still be in your inbox every Thursday. The team is determined to bring you the news and a magazine packed with stories about the innovative, exciting and ambitious things happening in the industry.
Our cover story is an interview with the CEO and founder of Carman’s Kitchen, Carolyn Creswell (page 26). From manning a market stall to
leading a company exporting to 32 countries, Creswell embodies the passion and
determination synonymous with
food manufacturers.
CEO of Australia’s largest privately owned supermarket group, Ritchies, Fred Harrison talks to Stuart Ridley about his time in the aisles (page 8).
The Riverland region in South Australia is
the largest wine producing region in the
country. We caught up with the executive chair
of Riverland Wine Chris Byrne to find out about what it is doing to become more internationally competitive (page 20).
These are unprecedented times. Many of you have had to make heart-breaking decisions about your business and your people. I have a mantra that has kept me going through the darkest of times. It is the Japanese proverb: fall down seven times, rise up eight.
Be safe, keep well, look after each other. Onward.
