Daikin committed to local manufacturing
LEFT: Daikin has expanded its manufacturing base in Australia.
Daikin Australia’s manufacturing manager, Nicholas MacDonald, said it’s great to see the ‘Australian Made’ logo on Daikin products as they roll off the assembly line.
“I know how hard our team has worked to re- alise this goal and I’m so proud of their efforts. We have quality products produced in our local factory, anchoring jobs and skills right here in Australia,” MacDonald said.
Daikin is also in the process of expanding its factory in Sydney, a process that has been under- way since October 2018 and is expected to reach completion mid-2019.
Expanding local facilities will make it even easier for Daikin to maintain a high level of in- novation and quality control – and to apply for additional Australian Made certifications in the near future. The factory expansion also means that there will be further employment opportu- nities for the local community.
“WITH OUR NEW FACTORY EXPANSION, WE’LL BE ABLE TO CREATE EVEN MORE OPPORTUNITIES FOR AUSTRALIAN PEOPLE.”

The products that now display the Australian Made label are Daikin’s Ducted Indoor Units, High Static Pressure Indoor Ducted VRV Units, Low Static Pressure Indoor Ducted VRV Units and VRV Packaged Rooftop Air Conditioning Units.
“Daikin’s committed to continuing this trend into the future by onshoring more product lines – watch this space,” MacDonald said.
IT’S BEEN 50 YEARS SINCE DAIKIN LAUNCHED IN AUSTRALIA – AND DURING THIS TIME, THE COMPANY HAS BECOME THE NATION’S NUMBER ONE AIR CONDITIONING BRAND.
ONE OF THE factors that has cemented this pres- ence has been Daikin’s commitment to local pro- duction, which has seen them manufacture a num- ber of products right here in Australia since 1982.
This year, Daikin will grow its local footprint even further, with four Daikin products now of- ficially bearing Australian Made certification.
This achievement is not only great news for Daikin, but also for consumers and businesses wanting to support the local economy.

powerful statement about the organisation’s com- mitment to local manufacturing, job creation and the support of the local community,” he said.
Daikin Australia managing director, Shaun Uehara, said these Australian Made certifica- tions are the first attained by Daikin, making it a proud moment for the company here. “Our wish has always been to have our brand welcomed by the people of Australia, and this is a key reason why we began local produc- tion in Australia 37 years ago,” Uehara said. “With our new factory expansion, we’ll be able to create even more opportunities for Australian people.”
A registered certification trademark, the Aus- tralian Made logo has helped countless brands communicate their Australian credentials to consumers, businesses and the government. It’s Australia’s most trusted and recognised coun- try of origin symbol, and is underpinned by a third-party accreditation system – ensuring that all products that carry the logo are certified as ‘genuinely Australian’.
