Iridesse meets the market
MMW3degrees invests
in Fuji Xerox Iridesse
Direct marketing communications business MMW3degrees is investing in a new Fuji Xerox Iridesse six-colour for its Lane Cove production centre, with head of operations Robert Beyer, and head of sales and marketing Jessica Ransley, on the Fuji Xerox stand at the show to seal the deal.
Beyer told Print21 that the technology within the Iridesse was a key reason for investing in the printer, with “the finishing equipment, the gold, the silver and especially the white being important to the company”.
Ransley said the new Iridesse would enable the company “to get some more
cut through for clients in a fully variable environment, enhance the personalisation and offer the industry something new”.
Warriewood buys
second Versant 180
Franchise operation Snap Warriewood signed for its second Fuji Xerox Versant 180 digital colour press, inking the deal on the Fuji Xerox stand.
Owner Nigel Moss said, “We were looking to upgrade our production power. We already have one Versant 180, so know the capabilities well. The first machine has performed superbly for us, so when we needed to add capacity we knew where to look.”
Moss has owned Snap Warriewood for 20 years. It serves the rapidly expanding light industrial estate in Warriewood Valley, as well as customers around Sydney. Moss said, “Our customers are more than happy with the print we produce using the first Versant 180, so adding a second means we can go to the market with confidence.”
Snap is Australia’s biggest print
franchise chain, with more than 100 stores nationwide; it also operates in New Zealand, Ireland and China. 21

HOT PICK: Fuji Xerox Iridesse
PRINT21 PANEL: The Fuji Xerox flagship Iridesse is winning plaudits around the world for meeting the needs of the market to move away from
commodity printing. The only digital printer with the ability to print four colour plus any two from either gold, silver, clear and white in one pass,
and combined with flexible sheet size, it was no wonder the FX order book at PrintEx was being given a workout.
For Fuji Xerox Australia fresh thinking and new technology, which makes
it simpler to say yes to new ways of doing business and new customers,
was the company’s driving theme at PrintEx. The company had its six unit Fuji
Xerox Iridesse and its Versant 180 as the centrepieces of its stand, with direct mail house MMW3degrees the first mailing house in Sydney to order an Iridesse.
Roger Labrum, senior marketing manager, Graphic Communications Services, Fuji Xerox Australia said, “There are not many industries that haven’t identified the continued need to digitally evolve in order to survive, and print is no exception.
“As market leaders we are confident
our customers can face tomorrow full of optimism, with innovation and automated technologies that benefit both our customer, and more importantly, focus on output to their own customers’ driving business and a bright future.
“Our complete solutions on stand at PrintEx were all designed to guide our customers through the digital journey and deliver reduced costs, produce more growth opportunities, and importantly say yes to new customers, new opportunities and new ways of running their business.”
The Iridesse is the industry’s only CMYK++ digital press. Fuji Xerox says its flagship product provides printers with
the opportunity to enter new markets, and increase profitability and productivity with less operator time and automation.
It says luxury print is made easy
and accessible to end users who are increasingly demanding differentiation and personalisation in print.
Also on the stand was the Versant
180, which Fuji Xerox says simplifies
and automates to produce more, without sacrificing the quality expected of a
Fuji Xerox device. New ways of pleasing customers are available with print on an extensive range of media types offered, and efficiency boosting workflows that keep jobs moving with less wait time.
According to Fuji Xerox the new PrimeLink C9070/C9065 digital colour printers are flexible and scalable, and able to produce small jobs through to large banner format print with extensive D6 finishing options, producing affordable and convenient end user output. It operates at speeds up to 70/65 ppm colour and 75/70 ppm black-and-white.
It has a single-pass scanner capable of handling up to 270 images per minute (ipm) Printing resolution is 2400 x 2400 dpi, using Fuji Xerox Emulsion Aggregation (EA) Toner with ultra-low melt technology. Media weights are up to 350 gsm and up to 256 gsm for auto duplexing, in sizes up to 330 x 660mm.
Also on the stand was the Fujifilm Acuity Ultra, which can produce an extensive range of indoor and outdoor applications. A super wide machine which creates exhibition graphics, point-of-purchase displays, high- value graphic art, indoor backlit displays all free from ozone-depleting chemicals.
The company had a full range of workflow solutions including personalisation, 1-to-1 marketing, colour accuracy, and smart multichannel marketing. This included end-to-end workflow automation, web-to- print and cross-media marketing services, and colour management.
