TONG LI, HEAD CHEF OF THE CRICKETERS, REVEALS HIS TOP TIPS FOR A BITE TO EAT IN MELBOURNE.
BURGER
I first discovered Mr Burger a few years ago on a visit to Victoria Market. They offer very simple but satisfying burgers, and their chips and mozzarella sticks are great, too.
BREAKFAST
I love strolling through South Melbourne Market and grabbing a coffee from Padre and a fresh pastry from Agathé Pâtisserie.
CHEAP EAT
My favourite is Shandong Mama. Coming from China's Shandong region, this hits the spot for me and is an authentic representation of my home town’s style of food.
UNIQUELY MELBOURNE
You can’t beat the views at Stokehouse on the St Kilda Beach. They showcase the highest quality produce very simply, but always with creative flavour combinations.
LONG LUNCH
Ichi Ni in St Kilda serves great Japanese food with an ocean view. I love sitting outside on a sunny day and making my way through their sushi and sashimi menu with a cocktail in hand.
COMFORT FOOD
I Love Pho in Richmond – whether it’s a cold, rainy day or a hungover Monday afternoon (being a chef), I never get disappointed from this place. Hearty and fresh,
great pho.
