GET THE EDGE WITH PAINT & PANEL
P
AINT & PANEL’S 2020 FOCUS
is to source information and provide networking opportu- nities to give our readers a com- petitive edge. Here’s a run down of
what’s on offer throughout the year.
FEBRUARY PODCASTS
Feburary sees the launch of our fortnight- ly podcasts. These podcasts will examine the business benefits of a range of work- shop equipment. Does the space taken up and cost of installing wheel alignment or calibration equipment pay for itself in im- proved cycle times and more efficient use of staff? Is keeping services in house such as windscreen replacement, air condition- ing, recalibration right for your business?
Plus, we’ll be hearing from industry mov- ers and shakers who are acing diversifica- tion, recruitment, profitability attracting and keeping apprentices, eradicating re- work and many more aspects of running a

successful autobody repair shop. Business accelerator Ben Fewtrell whose company Max My Profit is working with many repairers to improve their systems and profits will be the podcast host. Fewtrell has a thorough understanding of the operational and financial challenges re-
pairers face and is the ideal host.
MARCH SHOP TOUR,
NEXT GENERATION
Sydney shop tour, sponsored by Sydney Automotive Paint & Equipment take place on Thursday 12 March. You can learn so much from visiting other repair shops, you will always pick up at least one new idea. We’ll be visiting a ‘boutique’ city shop, Marrickville Prestige Smash Repairs which has recently become a multi-site operation. Lexus of Chatswood is a huge dealer- owned facility. One floor is dedicated to su- percars such as Maserati for which it is fac-
tory approved. As well as Lexus, the shop has many more ‘ badges’ and is kitted out with state of the art equipment. Finally we’ll have a peek at Gemini Chatswood, less than a year old this facility is set up for heavy hits. Lunch will be at SAPE’s HQ which includes training facilities and an equipment showroom.
Next Generation is our seminar aimed at younger repairers – under 40 but we won’t check birth certificates. We will now be holding this annually and this will be the event’s first time in Sydney on Friday 13 March. This year’s theme is Fresh Think- ing. The informal half day seminar offers a great networking opportunity and some of the speakers are successful business own- ers from our closed Facebook group Next Generation – Paint & Panel.
