All Scania models with 440 hp and above are fitted with Advanced Emergency Braking systems, which are driven by the radar unit fit- ted in the lower section of the grille.

On trucks with bull bars there is always a cavity in the bull bar’s lower cross-member to allow the radar to ‘see’ ahead. Again the repositioning of this box must be precise to ensure both the Adaptive Cruise Control and AEB systems can work properly. If you are rebuilding an NTG, Scania advises con- tacting one of its branches to arrange a check to ensure that the systems are work- ing and have been reinitialised correctly pri- or to returning the vehicle to the customer.
All Scania cabs are made from steel and exceed the most stringent European and Swedish crash tests requirements. Given the complex nature of the construction utilising high-strength steels, Scania Australia keeps a selection of complete cab shells on hand which can be used to ‘re-shell’ a badly dam- aged truck. This not only saves time in re- turning the vehicle to the road, but it ensures the physical integrity of the truck in order to provide the driver with the highest level of safety and security in a repaired vehicle.

DROP DECKS
AS THE SHEER SCALE OF THIS SUMMER’S BUSHFIRE DEVASTATION BECAME APPARENT, BARKER TRAILERS WAS DETERMINED TO COME UP WITH A WAY TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE RELIEF PROGRAM.
                                                                           WITH SUPPORT FROM KEY SUPPLIERS,
including paint partner PPG, the well-known Victorian trailer manu- facturer has launched ‘Drop Decks for Bushfire Relief‘, with the aim of raising over $50,000 for farmers in need. This will see ten drop deck trailers built, with Barker Trailers contributing labour hours and profit and various suppliers contributed via either discount or donation of materi- als. PPG is proud to donate all of the DELFLEET Evolution topcoat materi- als for the ten trailers.
It’s about coming together to find ways to support affected communi- ties, says Simon Meadows, CEO Bark- er Trailers. “Barker Trailers and our wonderful supply partners have joined forces and we are aiming to
raise over $50,000 for this critical cause. Our goal is to sell ten Drop Decks for Bushfire Relief, with each trailer providing funds which go di- rectly to help farmers and communi- ties affected by the bushfires.”
In addition, the PPG Foundation has donated $50,000 USD ($72,432 AUD) to the Australian Red Cross and has com- mitted to matching employee donations up to $25,000 USD ($36,193 AUD), for a total contribution of $75,000 USD ($108,625 AUD).
