seminar and awards takes place on 25 February in Syd- ney. Nominations have now closed and the judging panel made up of last year’s winners will be deciding who receives this annual recognition by the
industry.
It’s great to see so many nominations de-
tailing why the nominees make such a vi- tal contribution to the success of the busi- ness. The awards and seminar is supported by a fantastic line up of engaged spon sors who will all be adding to the win- ners’ ‘prize pot’ in addition to their tro phies with prizes ranging from training courses to pamper packages and more.
The Women in Collision seminar isn’t just for women and we encourage men to attend. We are about to select our keynote speaker to start the after- noon off and other speakers include knowledgeable and influential women from the industry such as Kathy Zdravevski, Industry Policy Advisor from VACC who brings a wealth of knowledge from a career in the insur- ance industry and a law degree which she achieved while parenting two chil-
dren while working. Andrea McCarthy of McCarthy Panel Works in Mackay is passionate about excellence in every aspect of the business. She was the first woman on the board of I-CAR and is on the board of MTAQ.
The event kicks off with lunch where everyone can get to meet each other. Af- ter lunch we hear from a range of speak- ers and then we present the awards to the 10 winners, two in each category. After

HOW LONG HAVE IN THE INDUSTRY?
I have been in the smash repair industry for 29 years this November.
WHAT MADE YOU JOIN THE INDUSTRY?
My husband at the time was a panelbeater by trade. He left the industry to start assessing for FAI Insurance, now better known as Allianz Insurance. The opportunity arose for us to purchase a panel shop, which at the time was called Beachmere Body Works. This was located behind Beecham Motors Holden dealership.
