WHEN IT COMES TO CONCRETE FLOORS,
Epoxy Topcoat from PPG’s Commercial Performance Coatings range is perfect for providing a great looking, durable, chemical resistant and easy to clean sur- face for workshop, etc. Laying down a strong foundation is the secret to achiev- ing a gleaming, hardwearing final fin- ish, says David Payne, Product Specialist Commercial Performance Coatings.
“People tend to forget that the temper- ature of the concrete plays a big part in the outcome. They will follow the prod- uct instructions and apply two coats of Epoxy Topcoat but if the concrete is a lit- tle on the cooler side, the coating doesn’t get a chance to actually sink into the pores of the surface. Later, this can re- sult in the coating flaking off. To avoid this, we recommend starting with a ‘penetrating coat’ – the latest Technical Data Sheet reflects this. A penetrating coat simply involves mixing a small ini- tial batch of Epoxy Topcoat, with up to 25 percent reducer added, and applying it to the entire area. Reducing the viscos- ity helps the product leech into the pores of the concrete where it can provide an excellent bond and foundation for the following layers. Because the penetrat- ing layer has been reduced, it tends to dry quite quickly. Typically, professional operators will apply the penetrating coat first thing in the morning, then come back later in the afternoon when it’s dry and apply the first full coat. This way it’s done quickly and with the reassurance that it will have good adhesion to the floor surface and provide many years of durable service. For a slick and glossy final finish, it’s recommended that you apply one penetrating coat, followed by two full coats of Epoxy Topcoat.”

CPP17 should be applied to a clean, dry, non-po- rous/rusted surface and stirred thoroughly before use for easier application. This non- yellowing and non-combustible formula dries as a non-reflective white colour. RECOMMENDED APPLICATION: Apply 2 - 3 lay- ers (dries in 30 minutes at 25 degrees Celsius) using a pressure tank for first use. Every 6-8 weeks add extra layers to cover any overspray on top of the origi- nal 2-3 layers. For the best results, apply up to a total of 11 layers max overtime before considering removing and start- ing over.
Finixa CBP washable booth coating, is another easy to apply and remove prod- uct. This product is a transparent, tacky and washable coating used to protect your booth walls against overspray while the tacky texture holds any circu- lating dust particles or contaminants. RECOMMENDED APPLICATION: Spray 2-3 coats on your walls. The thicker the coating, the longer the tackiness will stay active. Apply- ing an extra coat after some time will re- activate the tackiness. Clean up and remov- al is just as easy, if not easier than the application.
Finixa CPP17 is available in a 17L tub while Finixa CBP is available in 5L/10L/25L. Both products are biodegradable.
