ANOTHER GREAT COUNTRY REPAIR FACILITY, WELL PRESENTED, WELL ORGANISED AND WELL EQUIPPED.
fore they go into the booths minimising the need for denibbing.
Another impressively clean paint mix- ing room here– no toddler’s art project we’re pleased to say.
The panel shop is clean and tidy with a hefty Carbench for realignment, there are shadow boards for tools and the parts and consumables room is very well organised.
This is a well ordered and equipped workshop with an obvious dedication to up-skilling, that is proactive in pro- moting itself and open to new busi- ness opportunities.

  ANEL TECHNICIAN JASON
Gordon and his wife Tracy
set up JVS Bodyworks just outside of Renmark six years ago. There are actually quite a few bodyshops in the Riverlands but then there are also quite a few kanga-
roos to keep them all busy.
It was the first shop in the Riverlands
to meet the RAA’s new criteria. Being a country repairer often means you turn your hand to just about anything. “We do lots of Kangaroo work – animal hits are about 50% of our work. Then there’s car on car collisions. We also do boats, fibreglass repairs, caravans you name it,” says Jason. “It’s kinda word of mouth – they come in for an insurance claim and then ask can you fix my....”
The lockdowns have disrupted train- ing for so many repairers. Jason said that they managed to sneak in some ADAS training in between lockdowns. The business already undertakes a lot of scanning and calibration work. JVS is scoping out calibration systems to bring everything in house.
As well as collision repairs JVS also fit windscreens and have a contract with a local big bus company to replace their windscreens and undertake panel repairs.
This is a decent sized workshop at 1000m2 which is handy for the buses and caravans. It’s a smart looking cor- rugated iron shed, and there’s a compact reception with offices behind it.
All the workshop team, which is made up of a co-ordinator, two paint- ers, three panelbeaters and an appren- tice, have an iPad to connect to I-Body- shop and on our tour we were impressed with the organisation and evidence of many standard operating procedures.
Next to the office is a delivery bay for hand overs. The bay is also used for a brisk trade in fitting child restraints.
There’s a colour matching bay near the entrance of the workshop to take ad- vantage of natural light, although the workshop is nicely lit. There’s also a spray out unit here.
In the paint shop are two booths, one a brand new Pan with a hoist inside that’s an extra metre and a half longer than usual and higher to accommodate large 4W drives and vans. The older booth is used for priming and componentry. There’s a big engineering company in Renmark that exports its components around the world and JVS paint them.
The wash bay is situated opposite the spraybooths and all cars are washed be-
