CAPABILITIES: Matrix is home to Australia’s largest, most techni- cally advanced composite manufacturing facility (22,000 m2). The facility has been designed using lean production and one-piece flow manufacturing concepts. It uses highly automated manufacturing processes including moving work cells and production lines, auto- mated chemical processing, robotics and SCADA based control sys- tems. This has allowed Matrix to produce superior quality products that are competitively priced and can be delivered within shorter time frames.

CAPABILITIES: ARCEMY® by AML3D combines state-of-the-art welding science, robotics technology, metallurgy and proprietary software, WAMSoft® and AMLSoftTM to produce an automated metal 3D printing system that operates in a free-form environment. As a part of Industry 4.0, AML3D leverages Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM), technology, automation, and the industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) to create a smart manufacturing solution for medium to large scale exotic material parts. AML3D uses this technology to contract manufacture short-run and mass-produced parts for customers, using patented Wire Additive Manufacturing (WAM®) to print certified, stronger parts faster and more efficiently than conventional methods. ARCEMY® print systems are helping AML3D to disrupt the Defence manufacturing supply chain with a focus on:
• Improved material strength
• Lowering part lead time
• Lowering material waste and energy use for green manufacturing
with an extremely low carbon footprint
• Increasing customer manufacturing capability
• Recreating obsolete parts for sustainment programs
•Providing sovereign capability manufacturing opportunities for
Australian Defence
• WAM® is a certified manufacturing process using certified wire
feedstock for manufacture.
Many other metal 3D printing processes are difficult to meet quality requirements and, therefore, can be more challenging to have certified.
