FOOD SERVICE
AUS
WINNER OF THIS YEAR’S APPETITE FOR EXCELLENCE YOUNG RESTAURATEUR AWARD, CAM O’KEEFE OF CENTRA, NAMES HIS FAVOURITE VENUES IN GEELONG AND THE REGION.
BREAKFAST
My fiancé Lauren and I aren’t really morning people, but when we do make the effort, we love eating at the sustainable-focused small cafe our friend owns, Little
Green Corner.
COFFEE
For coffee in the Geelong CBD, it’s hard to go past Coffee Cartel – they do a lot of wholesaling nationwide, but they also have a fantastic little brew bar that serves up great espresso.
LONG LUNCH
Tulip in Geelong West has been great for years. It’s easy to lose track of time over lunch there after
a couple (or many) bottles down.
UNIQUE TO THE REGION
We’re very close with the winemaker and owners of Bannockburn Vineyards.
I love organising a visit there to show off the very best of the Geelong wine scene.
CHEAP EAT
Geelong has some great variety in the good cheap eat department, but for me a tucked away little Thai place called
The Elephant Tusk is crazy good value.
BIRTHDAY
As interesting as the food scene in Geelong is becoming, Lauren and I still like sneaking away to Melbourne for a special occasion to see what’s new or for important ‘research’.
