Coordinator Gary Wood is
delighted with changing atti- tudes to the importance of training. “The acceptance and at- titude towards training in our industry has grown dramatically during 2020,” he said. ”Many companies have felt the sig- nificant impact of COVID-19. Businesses have taken the opportunity during the downturn in workflow, to analyse how they are performing and look at areas
that could be improved..
“One of those areas that has been iden-
tified is training. Having key members of staff participating in training during busy times of the year can be challenging, so having the opportunity to complete any training that is of interest or that is re- quired as part of an OEM or insurer pro- gram during a time that is less impactful to the business can be advantageous.
“I-CAR has welcomed many new busi- nesses to the training opportunities we of-
fer this year. With the recognition of Gold Class continuing to grow, the interest in I- CAR training continues to expand. Many of the new businesses are part of the Sun- corp Approved Repairer Gold Class pro- gram. Others have completed specific courses required by Subaru, GM or AM- BRA for its National Shop Grading Scheme.”
“It has been fantastic to see the posi- tive attitude and commitment from eve- ryone involved during the past few months,” Wood said.
“ I-CAR has welcomed 26 new Gold Class businesses to the network this year. This is an incredible achievement by all concerned considering the issues we have had to deal with. From those 26, we have welcomed our very first Gold Class busi- nesses in both SA and NT. With another eight businesses on track to complete the certification requirements before the end of the year, we are hoping to end 2020 with a total of 55 businesses nationally that hold Gold Class certification.
“With another 158 businesses actively training towards Gold Class, the indus- try has met the COVID issues head on and put themselves in a great position as we move into 2021,” he said.
Five repair businesses have been awarded I-CAR Gold Class recently.
BPS AUTOBODY
“BPS Autobody commenced the I-CAR “Road to Gold Class” early 2020 as we found the rapid developing technology in repairs within the motor vehicle re- pair industry had become so complex, not only for the technicians, but for the estimating procedures and manufactur- ers’ safety requirements.
"I-CAR has instilled peace of mind and all the training required for BPS Autobody to maintain our position as one of the elite group of autobody repair facilities in Aus- tralia, recognised by both insurance com- panies and motor vehicle manufacturers,” said Bankstown, NSW business owner Warren Renno.
BODYTECH AUTOMOTIVE
“Here at Bodytech Automotive we live by the fact that it is our staff that create our impeccable customer service record. It is our customers who make us who we are,
