BRING ON THE
           AWESOME!
HIS ISSUE IS PACKED FULL OF
awesomeness. Sticking two prop- erly sanitised fingers up at Cov- id-19, the repair industry has contin- ued to adapt, improve and excel. Feast your eyes on all of the 2020 Paint & Panel Bodyshop award winners in our bumper magazine. It’s not a beauty competition but there are many winners this year that
combine beauty with brains.
We’re not just shining a light on the
award winners – there are plenty of other businesses that have been busy kicking goals (page 30) in a year that has been less than sporting.
As we look back down the barrel of 2020 there have been some positives (and I’m not just talking about the outcome of the US election). Taking enforced breaks from business as usual has led a lot of us to examine the way we ‘have always done it’ which led to ‘how can we do it better’? Followed by actually doing it better.
Some changes are no doubt here to stay long after our spiky nemesis has been con- quered or at least pushed into the back- ground. We’re probably all more hygiene aware (who never gave a thought to whip- ping a shopping trolley around the store and now shudders to think of what lurgeys
might lurk there?) It could be argued that we should have been sanitising cars to protect staff and customers all along. Now having got into the habit it makes no sense to stop. Picking up customers cars – well that’s a wriggly cat to get back in the bag. For the time poor this can significantly lower blood pressure – going forward maybe charge rea- sonably for it and offer another reason to choose your repair shop over one which doesn’t offer this service.
Many businesses have also found time for more training (now that‘s a really good habit to get into) – until we’re all back to full capacity they might not see the full benefits – but I’m sure they’ll be slapping themselves on the back when less mistakes are made and the business runs more smoothly.
As this ‘annus horribilis’ draws to a close let’s pack all the good new ways into a bag to carry through to 2021. The team at Paint & Panel wish everyone an awesome sum- mer and look forward to another year of con- necting with and informing the industry.
