In 2005 ASC was awarded the role of shipbuilder for the Hobart Class Air Warfare Destroyer project. This project sees the most advanced and complex warships ever built in Australia being consolidated at ASC’s Osborne, South Australia shipbuilding facility. ASC’s production workforce consists of highly trained and skilled trades people, with the knowledge and skills to refurbish, install, maintain and commis- sion the wide variety of equipment systems and fittings for surface and underwater platforms. Workshop capabilities include fabrication and welding, mechanical assembly, installation and alignment of shafting, installation of diesel generators, weapon systems, mast and periscopes, hydraulic systems, valve blocks and pumps, installation of electrical and electronic equipment, cabling and connectors/ter- minators to military standards and machining capability.
