THE VINYL COUNCIL of Australia has added a new category – PVC Duct Systems – to its Best Environmental Practice PVC Product Register in response to the growth in the use of low-profile PVC ductwork systems.
The EcoDuct 300 Series is the first product in this category to carry the Vinyl Council’s Best Environmental Practice (BEP) PVC trade mark.
This mark is awarded to independently as- sessed, Best Practice PVC-compliant products that meet stringent life cycle criteria, developed by the Green Building Council of Australia.
Incorporating up to 50% recycled PVC, the newly accredited EcoDuct is a low impact, fire retardant duct system that is specifically designed for high-rise apartment applica- tions where limited ceiling spaces are com- mon. It is also 100% recyclable at end of life.
The Vinyl Council’s BEP PVC Reg- ister covers a wide range of BEP-ac- credited construction products. PVC Duct Systems joins existing categories covering flooring, resil- ient wall coverings, pipes & fittings, conduit/fittings, fencing, cable and permanent formwork.
Manufacturers of products holding BEP PVC accreditation have undertaken the vigorous, third-party assessment process required to veri- fy their minimal environmental impact.
The Vinyl Council then vets the certificates and records the products, suppliers and certifi- cate validity on an online register.
Council CEO, Sophi MacMillan said PVC is a versatile material that offers a cost-effective, du- rable and low maintenance solution for a wide range of construction products.
“Best Environmental Practice PVC accredita- tion is an established quality mark for PVC, or vinyl products that helps specifiers to choose sustainable products manufactured to the most stringent environmental criteria.
“In addition to being recognised in Green Star’s Responsible Building Materials credit, Best Prac- tice PVC is a valuable aid for specifiers and anyone procuring PVC products; and the online register makes it sim- ple to identify those items made to the
highest sustainable standards.”

“As we progress through the early stages of the HFC refrigerant phase-down, tools such as this which alert business owners of leak test require- ments and improved tracking are imperative to ARCtick compliance and minimizing environ- mental impact.”
The Gas2Go app is available for the latest ver- sions of iOS and Android, is free to download.

Smart cylinder management with new Gas2Go App
GAS2GO CYLINDER MANAGEMENT just got a whole lot smarter.
The latest release of the Heatcraft Smart@ ccess Customer Portal now includes improved features with a new Gas2Go app to better man- age your cylinder fleet.
Exclusively available to Heatcraft customers with a Smart@ccess account, the Gas2Go app is an extension of the smart access customer por- tal, so users can choose to manage their fleet from a desktop, tablet or mobile - now enhanced with the introduction of the app.
Incredibly simple to use, business owners and contractors now have complete visibility of their fleet with the ability to assign and transfer cylinder holders, bar code scan and geo-locate cylinders.
For even greater visibility, users can assign lo- cations and add activity notes against each cyl- inder. Adjusting fill weights to fully understand how much refrigerant is being held across the fleet is also easily done via mobile or desktop.
Heatcraft has also built in alerts to notify us- ers when cylinders are due for leak testing. Alerts
also notify when cylinders are due to be re- turned, reducing the risk of cylinders being in- voiced as lost.
Feedback following a successful pilot launch highlighted the responsiveness of the app and has allowed Heatcraft to configure significant functionality enhancements before transition- ing to the APP platform.
The enhancements provided customers great- er confidence knowing their own information was instantly recorded against their assigned cylinders.
Commenting on the app and complete smart@ccess cylinder management program, Heatcraft parts & refrigerant marketing man- ager Brett Hedge said refrigerant and cylinder management was identified as a huge risk by customers and the cost of mismanagement can be significant. “Our customers want a simple yet comprehensive way to manage their cylin- der activity and highlight cylinder ownership to their technicians. We’re pleased to be able to offer them this new functionality, free of charge,” he said.
The App provides complete fleet visibility.
