Indoor Air Quality
Pure, fresh air
WITH UNCERTAIN TIMES ahead, Holyoake brings a sense of surety with the introduction of an Australian manufactured, eco-friendly prod- uct that provides clean, energy-efficient air.
The Room Air Purifier (RAP) has the ability to provide clean, fresh air to immediately improve indoor air quality, particularly in high-density areas such as office spaces, classrooms, aged care homes, hospitals, fitness centres, retail spaces, and restaurants.
The RAP is designed to continuously cycle air through a HEPA filter and MERV 8 pre-filter to eliminate >99.97 per cent of dust particles, germs, and contaminants.
The UV light, an optional feature, provides 360 degrees of high UV-C-intensity light and is inte- grated into the interior of the RAP unit. Widely used in hospitals and institutional applications, UV-C energy (254 nm) also lowers the cost of maintaining and operating HVAC equipment.
The bipolar ioniser, anoth- er optional feature, proac- tively purifies indoor air by producing positive and nega- tive oxygen ions to neutralise harmful pollutants and odours.
Testing has proved the ef- fectiveness of Plasma Air ioni- sation technology in the re- duction of MS2 bacteriophage, a surrogate for particulates, in indoor environments.
Other features include lockable casters, ad- justable fan speed for bespoke applications and a removable and replaceable HEPA filter.
It is commercially constructed with heavy-du- ty steel casing and powder-coat finish, making this unit extremely durable.

Technology partnership to monitor CO2 levels
THINXTRA HAS EXPANDED its partnership with New Zealand-based technology company, Tether, in the indoor air quality (IAQ) space to deliver Internet of Things (IoT) solutions to man- age the risk of COVID-19 and other harmful con- taminants in public venues.
As part of the extended collaboration, Tether has leveraged Thinxtra’s 0G network, powered by Sigfox’s low power wide area network (LP- WAN) technology, to launch COVID Care, a smart IAQ monitoring solution which includes IoT devices and data analytics software, initially targeted at businesses, schools and aged care providers.
COVID Care monitors carbon dioxide (CO2) levels to identify the risk of COVID-19, and is the first solution of its kind globally that can be dedi- cated to a room or a group of rooms.
Tether CEO, Brandon Van Blerk, said the data collected by COVID Care devices is provided to decision makers – such as facility operators, teachers and managers – in a sim- ple ‘risk level’ format that can be viewed in real-time and remotely via smartphone application and dashboard.
“CO2 is an excellent indicator of
whether the air in a room is conducive to trans- mitting COVID-19 via aerosol particles, and it’s therefore not inconceivable that the future will hold CO2 evacuation alerts for classrooms, of- fices and other spaces occupied by large volumes of people,” he said.
“Our objective is to reduce anxiety about COVID-19 by providing clear insights around the
health of buildings to the people occu- pying them, which can then be used to take the best actions immediately, and creating the right balance between healthy and energy-efficient facilities management.”
Tether has experienced demand for the Thinxtra-powered solution from customers in New Zealand and the United Kingdom, and expects take-up
across Australia in the near future.
Thinxtra CEO, Nicholas Lambrou, said its
partnership with Tether delivers a single solution comprising battery-powered sensors which con- tinuously monitor indoor air quality, and infor- mation delivered when it’s needed via its nation- al 0G Network, powered by Sigfox technology.
“The data collected by Tether’s sensors is then analysed by its software platform to inform deci- sions – whether it’s to resolve ventilation issues by opening windows or deploying air purifiers and filters. COVID Care marks a significant step towards smarter buildings in NZ and beyond,” Lambrou said.
Thinxtra owns and operates the Sigfox 0G Network in Australia, New Zealand (A/NZ) and Hong Kong.
