to enable delivery of the highest pre-stretch at all levels.
STRATEGIC FILM PLACEMENT:
Based on where on the pallet the load is most stable and unstable, the film should be placed strategically. Correct film placement is a science. It’s all about placing the exact amount of film at the exact force at the exact position in order to optimise film usage and pallet stability.
PROACTIVE CORNER COMPENSATION: Most of the product damage occurs at the corners which can easily be bent or crushed if the pallet is not wrapped correctly. The pallet wrapper should automatically wrap to protect the corners, hopefully without the need for using complex and expensive corner post loading solutions.
THE FILM TEST
Some of the most common causes of film breakages are load type, film quality, wrapper machine settings, and sometimes operator error.
Film test cycles are important to determine how much the film can be stretched without breaking to ensure that it does not break during wrapping.
Film manufacturer stretch specifications are often conservative. Cube technology from Robopac, which is available locally from Foodmach, seeks to extend achievable stretch in order to simultaneously increase load stability. It has also been designed to reduce film usage and to deliver film saving of up to 55 per cent using variable pre-stretch and strategic film placement. ✷
