APPMA TAKES CLOSER LOOK AT THE CONVENIENCE CULTURE
APPMA members attended the recent Food & Drink Business LIVE Breakfast Forum in Melbourne, taking the opportunity to learn more about the convenience megatrend that is sweeping the food and beverage industry and influencing new product development and packaging choices. APPMA Board member Dr Rym Kachouri gave positive feedback on the event, commenting the speakers and content. “Dialogues during and after the event remind me that web content cannot compete with a LIVE event. The ‘brainstorming’ that comes out is incomparable to anything we can passively read.”

APPMA ADVANCES MEMBERS’ INTERESTS AT PACK EXPO
Pack Expo International, the biggest global packaging and processing show this year, filled over 1,25 million net square feet of exhibit space and attracted over 2500 exhibitors. APPMA was among them, with a stand in the Association Partners Pavilion manned by COO Michael Moran.
Moran says the location was ideal, as it provided a great opportunity to engage and network with other international associations.
“Our stand was well positioned close to the PMMI’s major stand and directly opposite the UCIMA – The Italian Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Association. We also touched base
with the World Packaging Organisation, which had a nearby stand within the Pavilion. The stand was also within close proximity to the Innovation Stages, which were well frequented during the event,” he said
Moran noted that a number of Australian agency/distribution opportunities were identified, which APPMA will follow up, and there was interest from materials providers looking for access to processing companies.
“There were also a number of AUSPACK enquiries and we were able to take the opportunity to promote the exhibition to those who were unaware of our
show. Chris Carrero of ETF provided invaluable support in fielding these enquiries.”
Moran said APPMA once again sponsored the Amazing Packaging Race involving students making their way to various stands and completing set tasks, which provided the opportunity to increase awareness of APPMA and promote Australia, while also supporting an initiative valued by the PMMI.
“And finally, APPMA’s presence provided general support to members who were exhibiting or visiting the show, in keeping with our primary business objective of promoting the APPMA and our members,” Moran said.
