Graphic facts about RAC’s economic relevance
COLD HARD FACTS 1 (2007) AND COLD HARD FACTS 2 (2013) WERE SEMINAL WORKS, GATHERING TOGETHER DATA FROM ACROSS THE RAC INDUSTRY.
For the first time, there was a reference point for industry and policy makers to understand the full scale, extent and national economic rele- vance of Australia’s HVACR sector.
Cold Hard Facts 3 will be published later this year with preliminary results made available at ARBS 2018. With the benefit of metrics from two earlier editions, McCann was able to illustrate both the continued growth and increasing rele- vance of the industry to the national economy.
He provide a clear picture of the main techno- logical and regulatory drivers that are shaping the industry.

A snapshot of these results are provided in the fol- lowing graphs published for the first time in CCN.
McCann said the underlying CHF3 stock mod- el that has been developed since 2006 is now a tre- mendously sophisticated modelling tool for fore- casting changes to the stock of equipment and refrigerant gas markets in Australia.
In 2012 the industry had 173,000 employees and 45 million pieces of kit. By 2016 this in- creased to 213,966 employees and 50n million pieces of kit.
Some of the most interesting graphs included in the report cover Australia’s refrigerant bank.
