Siemens strengthens sensor-based building intelligence platform
SIEMENS HAS ANNOUNCED TWO ACQUISITIONS TO STRENGTHEN ITS SMART BUILDINGS SOFTWARE PORTFOLIO AND EXPAND ITS PRESENCE IN ASIA.
For end users such as building owners and facil- ity managers, FIN saves operating and energy costs while providing comfort and availability.
FIN is used in over 20 countries with thou- sands of installations globally, including offices, high rise buildings, education campuses, hospi- tals, data centres and many other building types.
Siemens Building Technologies Division also announced plans to acquire Enlighted, a leading provider of smart IoT (Internet of Things) sys- tems in buildings.
No financial details were provided but the deal is expected to close in the third quarter of 2018. “Enlighted has a strong footprint in revolutionizing building intelligence by developing a multi-sensor

based IoT platform, using the power of data,” ac- cording to Matthias Rebellius, CEO of Siemens Building Technologies. “With this move we are demonstrating our commitment to drive digitali- zation in the smart building industry."
Enlighted achieved its technological leader- ship with a world-class IoT platform for commer- cial real estate. The platform consists of multi- function sensors, distributed computing, its own network, and software applications. The beating heart of Enlighted’s platform are smart sensors, securely streaming data to the cloud. In addi- tion, the platform enables reduced energy use, improved space utilization, better environmen- tal management and greater asset utilization.
Enlighted chair and CEO, Joe Costello, said that with Siemens as a global partner, they can accelerate innovation and market adoption of their smart building technologies on an interna- tional scale.
Enlighted analyzes and visualizes the collect- ed sensor data to drive down operating costs and improve the inner life of a building. These sen- sors can be installed in every light fixture with the ability to collect data 65 times per second to detect environmental and occupancy changes and react to lighting and HVAC (heating, ventila- tion and air conditioning) needs in real-time. ✺
SIEMENS HAS ACQUIRED J2 Innovations (J2), a leading software framework provider for
parties are planning to further expand J2’s OEM business globally, with new hires in the United States and new offices in Europe and Asia. To maintain agility, J2 Innovations will be managed as an independent legal entity
and wholly-owned subsidiary of Sie- mens Industry Incorporated.
“Together with a strong partner like Siemens, we are well equipped and excited to take J2 and the FIN Framework to the next level,” accord- ing to Jason Briggs, president and CEO of J2 Innovations.

building automation and IoT, which is tered in California.
J2 has been a successful player in net-of-Things (IoT) software busi- ness for 10 years, building a strong reputation in the US and internation- ally with its FIN (Fluid INtegration) Framework technology.
No financial details were dis- closed but the CEO of Siemens Building Technologies Control Products and Systems, Uwe Frank, said the acquisition complements its growing digital portfolio.
