2020 is just the beginning
2020 ISN’T JUST ABOUT THE NEW YEAR, IT’S THE BEGINNING OF A WHOLE NEW DECADE.
Sandra Van Dijk – Editor
AND IT’S A period of time marked for rapid change, especially for anyone in HVACR. And I’m not just talking about refrigerants, we all know they will be changing from one year to the next.
I am talking about every aspect of the industry. Technology will continue to drive the adoption of new trends like Artificial Intelligence (AI), not to mention new business models like Refrigeration as a Service. And what makes it so exciting is the feeling that we are just at the starting line, a new dawn (or is a new dawn a bit too corny? Let’s keep it in perspective).
Admittedly 2019 was a tad rocky, the building industry took a few hits and HVACR felt it. We live in Australia anything involving real estate makes us nervous. But the overall outlook re- mains promising.
The Federal Government has committed to a significant infrastructure spend over the next decade to provide an economic boost and at long
last programs are being rolled out to address the current skills shortage (turn to page 10 for up- dates). Another positive indicator is salaries – RAC technicians are the highest paid tradies in Australia (see our story on page 8).
And if that’s not enough, 2020 is an ARBS year! Now this is an exhibition that has always provided plenty of economic stimulus for our industry and 2020 is gearing to be the biggest exhibition ever. Hell just take a look at our wholesalers feature in this issue and its clear that there is plenty of investment earmarked for Australia. And it’s a market that continues to grow, just ask Daikin, a company that has just celebrated 50 years in Australia.
Also in this issue is our very first Hot Products fea- ture, 20-pages of new releases planned for summer.
Here at CCN we are working overtime to roll- out a number of new programs and initiatives over the next 18 months. Turn to page 15 to find out about the very first project we have planned for the new year and tell us what you think, I would love to hear from you.
Until then have a safe and happy holiday season.
