Bitzer inks distribution deal with Guntner
BITZER AUSTRALIA AND GUNTNER HEAT EXCHANGERS HAVE INKED AN EXCLUSIVE LONG TERM DISTRIBUTION CONTRACT.
Products from the commercial refrigeration segment will continue to be marketed under BITZER’s Buffalo Trident brand
manufacturers and offer customers the latest technologies for refrigeration and air-condi- tioning equipment.
He said the name and service of Buffalo Tri- dent will continue through the technology syn- ergies between Güntner and Bitzer.
Güntner and Bitzer are convinced that this cooperation will serve the market in a competi- tive and responsive way.
With 3,500 employees, the Bitzer Group is the world's largest independent manufacturer of re- frigeration compressors.
Guntner, which has 3,000 employees world- wide, has production sites
in Germany, Hungary, Ro-
mania, Indonesia, Mexico,
Brazil and Russia. ✺

THE COMPRESSOR SPECIALIST will exclu- sively market all commercial and industrial Güntner heat exchanger products in Australia and New Zealand.
Products from the commercial refrigeration segment will continue to be marketed under Bitzer’s Buffalo Trident brand; those from the industrial refrigeration segment under the Güntner brand.
The agreement specifies that Güntner manu- factures the goods and Bitzer distributes them. However, this does not change anything for cus- tomers. In order to supply the Australian market, Bitzer will be opening a warehouse in Sydney.
Bitzer Australia managing director, Simon Wood, said both companies and their custom- ers will benefit from the close cooperation be- tween Güntner and Bitzer.
“The fact that an expanded product range is now available means we can offer the right solu- tion for every heat exchanger, refrigeration and air-conditioning application,” he said.
Wood also confirmed the closure of Buffalo Trident`s manufacturing operations at Sunshine Victoria, which will shut down by the end of 2018.
Güntner Group Asia director Glen Wiles said cooperation betweem Güntner and Bitzer will combine the advantages of high-quality global
Emerson announces R-32 compressor plans
EMERSON HAS ANNOUNCED plans to im- mediately begin new product development ef- forts to introduce a portfolio of compressors op- timized for use with R-32.
The company said R-32 has been the leading low GWP refrigerant choice for many applica- tions in Europe and Asia.
“Based upon compressor testing and mar- ket analysis of R-32 in conjunction with over- all customer feedback, Emerson believes that in most applications R-32 (Safety class A2L, GWP of 675), is an acceptable alternative to R-410A for lower GWP needs,” Emerson said in a statement. The company said it is a “piv- otal time” for the HVAC industry as users tran- sition to low GWP refrigerants.
At the same time, Emerson said manufactur- ers are in the midst of product redesigns while also evaluating their best low GWP options. Amid this uncertainty, Emerson said it is work- ing to develop the best low GWP refrigerant op- tions for various air conditioning and heat
pump applications globally. “Other low GWP candidates, such as R-454B (Safety Class A2L, GWP of 466), R-452B (Safety Class A2L, GWP of 698), and Honeywell’s new N41 refrigerant, R466A (Safety Class A1, approximate GWP of 733) among others, continue to be evaluated as they may be acceptable alternatives as well,” the statement said. “This may vary by region and will likely be driven by application needs and lo- cal regulations. Emerson is committed to sup- porting the industry and our customers with optimized product solutions as the need for these particular refrigerants becomes clearer. Currently, the N41 refrigerant with provi- sional R-number of R-466A is considered the only potentially viable low GWP candidate with a preliminary safety class designation of A1. Although R-466A has potential as an alternative to R-410A, there are still system and component evaluations required to prove total system reliability, compatibility, and economics.” ✺
