“While it may be more difficult than ever to take time away
from your business, the ability
to step back from the coal face, reflect on your business and the wider market, and gather new information, ideas and contacts has perhaps never been more important,” Harper argues.
“The PrintEx Forum Series
is designed to complement the contribution of more than 100 exhibitors who will be showcasing their products and services on

Day 1
On Day 1, the focus will
be retail, with renowned
social scientist and
author Dr Ross
Honeywill (pictured) set
to reveal to Business@
Breakfast attendees how
customer attitudes and
behaviours are changing, and demonstrate how to reach and motivate the consumers who offer the highest value potential.
This will be followed by two must-see Masterclasses from industry legends Phil Taylor, former CEO of Franklin Web, and Bob Lockley, former CEO of Fairfax Media, who will share their stories and the lessons they have learned. They will be between sessions on the Australian Packaging Covenant and the 2025 Sustainable Packaging Targets, and a workshop exploring the findings of the 2018 Fespa survey.
The day will conclude with a
drawcard keynote presentation from international print industry identity, Deborah Corn – well known Print Media Centre Intergalactic Ambassador to the Printerverse and leader of #GirlsWhoPrint – who will reveal what print customers don’t know, and how it can kill your business.
Day 2
Day 2 will feature a Food, Wine & Events theme, kicking off with a breakfast session looking at how options like personalisation and AR are creating new and exciting opportunities to connect, engage and inform via product packaging and labels.
Business sessions during the day will feature an expert panel discussing Event Activation; Rowena Curlewis, CEO of Denomination, looking at Global Packaging Trends; competitive strategy specialist Megan Smith discussing how to gain The Enduring Edge that will allow your business to achieve its potential; and a session looking at how to design an AR & Personalisation solution, from designer to consumer.
Day 3
On Day 3, Thursday, Quickar CEO
Scott Browning will bring a different perspective to the day’s theme of Innovation by sharing his experience
of disruption and transition in the automotive industry, and how the lessons learned can be applied to the strategic business thinking in other industries, which like print, which are experiencing similar transformation.
Following the breakfast, a panel of industry leaders including Matt Aitken,
Deborah Burgess, Craig Dunsford, Lachlan Finch, Theo Pettaras and Peter Sinodinos will discuss the fourth revolution facing manufacturing, how each of them is responding, and how we can future proof the industry.
This will be followed by the hot topic
of Energy, with a panel of energy experts, policy advisors and industry professionals looking at trends, technologies and policies which shape the sector, and how businesses can take control.
Sign, display and wide format professionals won’t want to miss the afternoon session, Innovations in the Signage Industry, which will seek to identify new opportunities for growth – a topic which will be carried through to the final session for the day, Print – A Step Beyond, with researchers, manufacturers and new media specialists discussing how our knowledge, creativity and skill set can be applied to totally new opportunities in both the functional and virtual worlds.
Day 4
Day 4, the final day of
PrintEx, will look at the enormous opportunities
in Government and
Education, with a
broader focus on
building business
through creative
approaches and sales strategies.
The day starts with a dynamic Business@Breakfast session headlined by Happiness Hacker Penny Locaso (pictured), who will challenge the busy epidemic with her alternative strategy of Intentional Adaptability – a skill she argues is vital
to thriving in the age of exponential technology.
The morning session will feature Mark Roberts, general manager of
Mail Products at Australia Post, telling visitors about new and different opportunities to deliver value via mail. This is to be followed by a lunchtime keynote from Pat McGrew, known
best perhaps for her role as the host
of PrintSampleTV, who will talk profitability, with her presentation on Developing a Workflow Mindset: Picking up Money from the Production Floor.
After lunch, Deborah Corn is back with more wisdom from the Printerverse, helping visitors identify Three Ways to Create New Print Business in Unexpected Places. Pat McGrew will close out the day, and the show, with a practical session which to help businesses rethink the way they equip their sales team, titled
How to Create Print Samples that Sell.
