APPY NEW YEAR TO YOU. 2022
hasn’t got off to the most promising
tart it’s true but I for one will not fall into the clutches of doom and gloom and aim to march forward confidently whatever hurdles are put in front of me – who’s with me? We’re in for another chal- lenging year with the pandemic which clearly isn’t going anywhere any time soon. A strong focus on keeping a positive mindset will allow us to plan for the worst case scenarios. This is the year we really learn to live with COVID, just as other countries have been doing for a while - staff shortages caused by sickness and isolation are going to be an ongoing scenario. This will require patience and understanding by both insurers and cus- tomers. Once again excellent communi- cation will be needed to manage every- one’s expectations, including your team’s. Positive mindset will be essential so that we continue to adapt to the con-
stantly changing landscape .
My first outing this year was lunch at a
beautiful waterside restaurant after stay- ing home most of the holidays. Yes, one of my lunch companions tested positive later that night, but as I said to them: “I would

much rather have caught COVID from a wonderful lunch than shopping for gro- ceries.” Thankfully, my first rapid test was negative but as we all know, it’s when not if, we contact Omicron.
It’s great to see that people are once again planning events and I plan to at- tend as many as I can – getting on planes, visiting shops, connecting with the industry and getting on with life.
There have been some upsides to the pandemic, it has certainly forced us to con- tinuously think outside the square. Goal- posts have been mounted on wheels and fitted with nitrous oxide boosters and we’ve all been getting fit trying to keep up.
It has really challenged us to review the way we do things and deleted the ‘that’s how it’s always been done’ mindset. With this in mind we’ll be looking at ways we can change, improve or add to the many channels of information and interaction points we offer to increase your arsenal of great business practices for greater success.
