 Purger ready for propane use
GEA HAS LAUNCHED the latest version of its Purger for refrigeration plants that uses the environmentally-friendly natural refrigerant R290 (propane).
The ‘plug and play’ Purger operates indepen- dently from the main refrigeration system. It is simple to install indoors or outdoors, requires the minimum of maintenance and benefits from maximum energy efficiency with minimum power consumption.
GEA's automatic air vent increases the efficien- cy of any industrial refrigeration plant. Non-con- densable gases cause significant efficiency losses.
Air and other non-condensable gases can dis- solve in the refrigerant and enter the cooling sys- tem circuit, where they cause a significant in- crease in condensation pressure due to their different/higher partial pressures, even in small concentrations.
Cooling systems
must therefore be
kept largely free of non-condensable gases. This is done most effectively with an automatic venting system, as this reacts immediately to the in- gress of non-condensable gases into the system.
After a time loop the Purger op-
eration starts as soon as the concentra-
tion of non-condensable gases in the liquid receiver is two per cent or more. It automatical- ly shuts off again when the concentration has dropped to one per cent.
The effective displacement of non-condensa- ble gases ensures long-term efficient operation of
GEA’s automatic air vent, the Purger.
the refrigeration system. Since the average con- centration of non-condensable gases is much lower throughout the installation, this value rep- resents an average concentration of less than 0.1 per cent throughout the installation.
 Global search begins for oldest compressor
THE SEARCH IS on for the oldest BITZER reciprocating or screw compressor still in operation.
BITZER has launched a competition to find the oldest compressors still in operation until March 15, 2021.
Ever since the company was established over 85 years ago, BITZER has been a pioneer in the refrigeration and air conditioning industry in terms of quality and durability.
Participants who find the oldest compressors can win great prizes in both categories of com- pressor technologies: Every prize includes a we- binar of the winner’s choice from the SCHAU- FLER Academy, a wireless Jabra headset and a BITZER office package.
Customers who have authentic BITZER recip- rocating or screw compressors in operation should send the following photos and informa- tion to socialmedia@bitzer.de:
A picture of the compressor, its name plate and the compressor installed in the system;
Information about the model and location of the system;
The name of the operator of the system; Contact details.
BITZER began making its mark on the indus- try in as early as the 1930s by manufacturing thermostatic expansion valves out of steel and achieving international success with reciprocat- ing compressors.
“BITZER BEGAN MAKING ITS MARK ON THE INDUSTRY AS EARLY AS THE 1930s.”
In the 1940s, BITZER began paving the way for its success as a compressor manufacturer with its open two-cylinder reciprocating compressors and set additional milestones in the 1950s with hermetic and semi-hermetic compressors.
In the early 1980s, BITZER then became the first manufacturer to market open and semi- hermetic screw compressors for commercial refrigeration and air conditioning applica- tions which were being manufactured in serial production.
