International expert to deliver keynote at CCN Live 2019
AN INTERNATIONAL EXPERT on the changing refrigerant landscape and chair of the European Fluorocar- bon Technical Committee (EFCTC), Nick Campbell, will deliver the keynote address at this year's CCN Live event.
With more than 30 years experience
working primarily on the ozone issue
and climate change, Campbell is based
at Arkema SA headquarters in Paris
where he is the environment manager for the fluorinated products division.
He is ideally placed to talk about this year's theme: Refrigerant Roadmap Beyond 2030.
Sponsored by Refrigerants Australia, Camp- bell will talk about the HFC phasedown and the many challenges associated with new refriger- ants and their application.
The HFC phasedown is the single biggest issue facing the HVACR industry today and even a decade from now its significance will be just as great which is why it was chosen as the theme for CCN Live 2019. It is estimated that the global phasedown will re- duce emissions by up to 72 billion tonnes by 2050.
In addition to his rôle at Arkema, Campbell is the former chair of the International Chamber of Com- merce (ICC) Working Party on Climate Change.
He has attended UN climate change meetings since 1991 and has been present at every Meet-
ing of the Parties and worked on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) reports.
He was recently appointed Review Editor for Chapter 11 (Industry) of the Working Group III IPCC 6th Assess- ment Report.
Locally, the federal government is planning a review of Australia's HFC phasedown which is scheduled for
2022 to ensure industry is on track and to make changes if they are required.
Participants will also hear first hand about the latest developments in refrigerant recovery and reclamation from the newly appointed gen- eral manager of Refrigerant Reclaim Australia (RRA), Kylie Farrelley.
Following the speaker program, CCN will for- mally announce the winners in all seven catego- ries of the 2019 HVACR Leadership Awards.
Support for the 2019 HVACR Leadership Awards has never been greater with a record number of sponsors coming on board this year including ABB, Daikin, Kirby, Panasonic, Mitsub- ishi Heavy Industries Air Conditioners Australia, Toshiba and Refrigerant Reclaim Australia.
