ZAGAME AUTOBODY
WE HAVE A DIFFERENT CATEGORY FOR DEALER OWNED SHOPS BECAUSE THE BUSINESS MODEL AND FUNDING IS DIFFERENT AND OFTEN AN INDEPENDENT SHOP COULDN’T COMPETE AGAINST THEM.

FROM LEFT: Next level equipment and work practices and a shop design that is out of this world.
T HE FIRST WORKSHOP ZAGAME built is impressive an inno- vative enough, this recent 'supercar refinement centre' however needs another category of its own because nothing I've seen could hold a candle to it. I don't think it would be overstating matters to say that it is undoubtedly in the top one percent of repair facilities in the world in terms
of, well, just about everything.
The first and foremost objective is cus- tomer service and retention. Zagame pro- vide next level customer service, like transporting cars to and from customer’s homes and often delivering a loan car. These services and the state of the art equipment and work practices push up overheads but the aim has been to pre- sent and operate ‘bodyshop 2.0’ and this
has certainly been achieved.
The bulk of work is via insurance
claims and given the nature of the thor- oughbreds on the workshop floor and the often sky high cost of even clips and bolts, they have to work even harder than some ‘mum and dad’ shops to justify
their quotes to ensure the cars are re- stored to as new condition. Being part of a dealership with OEM methods on tap helps resolve any issues quickly. Zagame Autobody has diversified and moved into wraps and paint protection film. Manager Steve Allison also plans to bring more services in-house such as glass, to help control quality and costs.
Health and safety is strictly enforced with all staff required to use PPE equip- ment where necessary and there are even exhaust extraction units in case the en- gine needs to be run. There's not the slightest whiff of paint, even in the mixing room, in fact you can't smell any chemi- cals in either workshop. Each of the repair

bays have fume and dust extraction and you could eat your dinner off the floor. No sanding takes place outside of the booths to keep the workshop clean and ensure proper extraction is used.
Lighting in the workbays can be con- trolled from the wall or a phone app and you can choose white or yellow light and spotlights. They have an impressive list of 10 manufactuer badges, with many more in the process of joining them. No detail is too small for Allison's attention - down to the colour of the parts trollies. There's even a comfortable viewing area for clients who want to watch their car being painted in the glass booths.

What can I say? This repair
facility has equipment and
similarities to that of an
operating theatre for brain
surgery, and this would probably make the owners of these vehicles feel more at home. This repair centre is beyond belief.
