QUEST COLLISION CENTRE
THE DANDAN FAMILY HAVE CARVED A CORNER OF HORNSBY FOR THEIR REPAIR BUSINESS. QUEST IS A ULTRA MODERN, CUSTOMER-FOCUSED, INNOVATIVE SHOP.
Q UEST WAS BUILT AS AN IAG exclusive shop for driveable repairs. It is innovative and different from other shops in
a number of ways.
When we say this is a family shop,
that’s Mohammad and Joanne Dandan, Mohammad’s four brothers and niece all work there.
Quest is state of the art both in terms of customer facilities and the workshop. Customers drive into a smart assessment area inside the building which is sepa- rated from the workshop. Stepping into the beautifully tiled entrance you are greeted by two Terminator style huge ro- bots made from car parts and the blingin- gest chandelier I have ever seen (page 44). The upstairs customer services area is vast. It has a spacious café, a viewing area where you can sip your coffee and see the workshop in action (with a very fancy electric blind which can be opened to ‘reveal’ the workshop, for extra ‘Ta da). There’s also a glass walled play room so that parents can keep an eagle eye while they grab a coffee or a bite to eat.
The Dandans have really put the café into café repairs. Their offices and board room are also situated here.
We’ve seen rail systems used in the paint shops, but never in panel as well. The long narrow workshop is divided with paint on one side and panel on the other, courtesy of Pan Spraybooths. Mo- hammad says it is a massive time saver in the panel shop as you can stack the cars up so that as soon as the panel tech- nician has finished he can push the car aside and get on with the next one straight away. At full tilt this shop can repair 100 plus cars a week.
They had just started with iBodyshop and were already seeing the time-saving benefits in the office. As with all of the shops we visited in NSW the biggest challenge is finding technicians, espe- cially for panel.
This is a family that works their back- sides off and they are still hungry for more. There are plans for a new shop in nearby suburb and once they move out of Hornsby, I can see a Sydney repair net- work growing.
