Which way in a whirlwind?
SINCE THE LAST EDITION OF CLIMATE CONTROL NEWS (CCN),
THE WORLD HAS UNDERGONE RAPID CHANGE.

THE CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) threat has impacted everyone and the situation is changing rapidly. It’s like being in a whirlwind making it hard for those of us moving forward to maintain direction.
But for those of us who are in good health we need to soldier on (safely of course).
The goal is to try to limit the business fallout and keep economic damage to a minimum. It has also raised the question: Is HVACR an essential service?
Many trade organisations including the Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) believe the government should grant tech- nicians and engineers “essential business” status as they are maintaining equipment that is vital for the health and safety of the public.
A total of 10 industry groups have made a sub- mission to the US government stating that this equipment is vital for air filtration and food and
medical supply preservation, especially in a time of quarantine.
“When equipment fails, technicians must be able to repair or replace it as quickly as possible,” the statement said.
Whether you are an essential service or not, most organisations have introduced measures to keep operating while still protecting staff.
Here at CCN we have suspended all scheduled events up until May 31, 2020, and of course there is a travel ban in place. And while there will be no face to face meetings or interviews for the fore- seeable future, we are still available to follow-up stories and conduct business by telephone.
