BIENVENUE À LA FÊTE EUROPÉENNE DE FOOTBALL

(FINALE – NECKAR STADION STUTTGART)

(Dr Peco Bauwens 3 juin 1959)

The first final of this European champions cup only took place three years ago.

The games, which took place between teams in this new competition, have

become increasingly popular in such a short period of time. This football

challenge is now one of the most exciting to watch around the world.

European ties have helped towards the popularity of football and the increase

of the number of adherents to football. Since 1956, thousands of supporters

have been able to watch high quality games in this competition.

We hope that the European Cup Champions will remain the corner stone of our

great sport. It should cultivate our future friendship beyond borders and bring

us closer together within the world of football. Players and supporters have a

duty to improve the world of football as opposed to the concept of ‘motherland’.

We are convinced that this final in Stuttgart, the fourth of its kind, will just do

that. It is about the spirit of the game, which is promoting competitiveness

within a sporting environment (i.e. football).

The German federation of football is thanking the Union of European Football

Associations, to have entrusted them with the organisation of this final in

Stuttgart. We are of the opinion that the Necker Stadium is the perfect venue

for this high profile game.

The German football is pleased to welcome all visitors from every corner of the

world as well as the two finalists. They have all come to Stuttgart to witness

and celebrate this party organised for them, in the name of football.

Dr Peco Bauwens

President of the German Football Federation.
