BROWARD HEALTH IMPERIAL POINT
Alice Taylor
Chief Executive Officer
Alice Taylor is responsible for the overall leadership
of the 204-bed acute care hospital which offers medical-
surgical inpatient care, behavioral health services and a
wide variety of outpatient services. Under her leader-
ship since 2012, Broward Health Imperial Point has
achieved many accomplishments, most notably are;
being the only Exemplar NICHE (Nurses Improving
Care for Healthsystem Elders) designated hospital in
Broward County, successful launch of a Joint
Replacement Center and currently spearheading the
expansion of cardiac services to the community to
include a cath lab and chest pain center.
Taylor grew up in Philadelphia, PA and received her bachelor’s degree in nursing
from Holy Family College in Philadelphia and her MBA from Widener University in
Chester, Pennsylvania. She began her healthcare career as a nurse over 30 years ago
and worked her way up in hospitals in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Florida.
Susan Newton
Chief Financial Officer
Susan Newton is the Chief Financial Officer of
Broward Health Imperial Point, a position she has held
for the last 10 years. Newton is responsible for plan-
ning, managing and evaluating the hospital’s processes
to ensure optimal financial performance. In addition,
she is responsible for the strategic implementation and
day-to-day operations of many of the hospital’s key
service areas and departments.
During her tenure, Newton started a unique Men’s
Health program with a mobile screening unit, The Man
Van, which offers a flat rate for comprehensive health
screenings to uninsured men and women in the community. Newton also developed
the business plan to create a new 20-bed ER with five senior-friendly rooms, and eight Chief Nursing Officer
additional rooms designated for behavioral health issues.
Newton received her undergraduate degree at Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois
and her MBA at Nova Southeastern University in West Palm Beach. Newton sits on
the Board of Total Claims Administration and Best Choice Providers. In 2012, Newton
was elected President of the Rotary Club of Fort Lauderdale/Cypress Creek.
MERCY HOSPITAL
Dale Alward, FACHE
Chief Executive Officer
Dale Alward is an experienced healthcare executive
with more than 33 years of experience in healthcare
management. At present, he serves as Chief Executive
Officer of Mercy Hospital, a 488 bed acute care HCA
hospital in Miami, FL.
Previous HCA experience includes CEO of Englewood
Community Hospital in Englewood, FL; COO of Terre
Haute Regional Hospital in Terre Haute, IN; and
Assistant Administrator at Henrico Doctors’ Hospital in
Richmond, VA. Prior to joining HCA, Alward served for
23 plus years in the United States Air Force Medical
Service as a health care administrator working in the United States Air Force
Hospitals. In 2016, Alward was named to the Board of Governors of the Greater
Miami Chamber. He will also serve on the Chamber’s Military Affairs, Healthcare and
Sports Committees.
Alward holds a Master of Health Administration Degree from Virginia
Commonwealth University-Medical College of Virginia (VCU/MCV). Alward also
holds a Master of Public Administration Degree from Troy State University, Troy, AL.
He was awarded the VCU Leadership Award and the VCU School of Allied Health
Professions Health Administration Service Award while attending VCU/MCV.

BROWARD HEALTH CORAL SPRINGS
Drew Grossman
Chief Executive Officer
Drew Grossman is the Chief Executive Officer of
Broward Health Coral Springs. He has 18 years’ experi-
ence in healthcare administration, and has been the
guiding force in leading Broward Health Coral Springs
through its two major expansions within the last decade.
In 2008 Broward Health Coral Springs nearly doubled
the emergency department in size and since has
decreased the turnaround time and improved patient
satisfaction.
And today the hospital is in the midst of an 110,000-
square-foot expansion which includes four floors of healthcare services including
private labor & delivery rooms, mother/baby post-partum rooms, NICU rooms, med-
ical/surgical rooms and shell space.
Expected to be completed in 2018, this expansion is aimed at providing greater
access to quality, patient-centered care to residents in western Broward County, and
it’s much needed due to the growing need for patients and their families to have
access to the highest quality of healthcare close to home.
Anita Brooks, BSN, RN
Broward Health Coral Springs announces Anita
Brooks, B.S.N., R.N., as the DAISY Nurse Award winner
for 2016. Brooks was nominated by a patient that joined
the celebration by presenting her with a daisy bouquet
and the award. The patient described Brooks as “com-
passion, professional and competency beyond compare,
she makes me feel safe comfortable and secure! This is
why Anita Brooks deserves the DAISY Nurse Award!”
MEMORIAL REGIONAL HOSPITAL SOUTH
Jineal Shinn, MSN, RN
Jineal Shinn, M.S.N., R.N., had dedicated her life to
nursing, a profession she finds inspires her every day to
make a difference in the lives of the people she has the
privilege to serve. After years of working at Joe
DiMaggio Children’s Hospital as a pediatric hematology
and oncology nurse and later as director of nursing, she
was promoted to Chief Nursing Officer for Memorial
Hospital Regional South. She now oversees all nursing
activity for the hospital, which includes its advanced
Rehabilitation Institute. Making the transition from
pediatric to adult was a natural for Shinn because at the
core of everything she does is caring for others.
Shinn is looking forward to developing in her new role in which she will have the
ability to impact operational issues and continue to contribute to a culture that fulfill
Memorial’s mission “to heal the body, mind and spirit of those we touch.”
“The opportunity to contribute and influence change in the design and implemen-
tation of patient care delivery, in collaboration with our elite physicians and highly
qualified staff, has a significant impact on the quality and safety in care that is deliv-
ered to our patients and families” said Shinn, who is known for having strong critical
thinking skills and a keen ability for creating a collaborative work environment.
