The Chubenko Family moved to Carteret in 1979 from Allentown, PA when Fr. Taras Chubenko (an orthodox priest) was relocated to St. Demetrius Ukrainian Orthodox Church as its Pastor, bringing along his lovely wife Mary Ann and their 4 boys, Taras, Eric, Gregory and Peter. In a very short while, as the boys grew, Carteret became home to the family. The family participated in a broad variety of activities. from boy scouts to little league, soccer, pop warner football right through to high school. It was in high school that Gregory expressed an interest in becoming a funeral director and upon entering college decided his calling was to serve people in that capacity. His tenacity and hard work encouraged his younger brother Peter to follow the same path.
Chubenko Funeral Home was founded in 2001 by the Reverend Taras Chubenko, a Priest of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of U.S.A., along with his son Gregory
B. Chubenko. Gregory is a graduate of American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service and has been the Manager of the funeral home since its opening.
Within a few months of the opening, younger brother Peter enrolled in American Academy, McAllister Institute of Funeral Service and the two have been working side by side ever since. The Reverend’s tenets of honesty, integrity, fairness and respect for all faiths have become the standard by which Chubenko Funeral Home has become known.
Greg and Peter can arrange for traditional funerals to be held in one of our spacious chapels, in one’s home house of worship or directly at the cemetery or mausoleum. They also handle national and international transfers, prearrangements, and cremations. Call them when questions arise. They are ready to serve you with caring and understanding.
