Established in 1842, Peconic Monument Works has specialized in the design, carving and installation of fine memorials here on the East End of Long Island (and beyond). For over 180 years we have offered guidance and insight to families throughout the process of memorialization, while also seeking to provide only the best in quality and service. We listen to you
and remain sensitive to your wishes and needs so that the end result is a permanent tribute that best reflects life well lived. We are here to help.
As Long Island’s sole member of the American Institute of Commemorative Art (AICA), you can know that your headstone, monument, grave marker or mausoleum will be designed with every intent to tell your story in stone. In addition to the AICA, we are also members in good standing of the Monument Builders of North America as well as the New York State Monument Builders Association. Thoughtful design is a key factor in ensuring that your family’s memorial is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also personal and timeless. We take great satisfaction in helping families create custom memorials that stand the test of time.
While we have created countless designs over the years, we never want a family to
feel limited by what they see in a cemetery, online, in a brochure, or at our shop. We have a studio showroom in downtown Riverhead exhibiting some of those designs. Every life is unique, and we believe this should be celebrated and considered. We encourage you to research and take time to hone in on what you like, as well as what you don’t like. While your memorial can be a reflection of your own personal taste, it is also the way that one can be remembered for generations to come; as such, careful consideration is warranted. It has been said that a memorial may be the only truly permanent purchase a family can make.
Being a full service memorial shop means that in addition to helping families from concept to creation, we will also handle cemetery correspondence and permitting. We can even aid in cemetery plot selection, as the setting can often impact the overall memorial design, and may possibly restrict your family to certain specifications.
Some additional services that we provide are on-site carving, inscription lettering, memorial cleaning, memorial restoration, historical and sensitive repair work, and art installations. We also furnish natural stone (typically granite) garden benches and dimension stone.
