About Us
Established in 1918 by James O’Donnell, O’Donnell Funeral Home has been a cornerstone of the community for over a century. Upon James’ passing in 1923, his wife, Mary Kay O’Donnell, took the reins, obtaining a widow’s license to keep the family business thriving. William J. O’Donnell joined the family business in 1938, briefly pausing his service to answer the call to duty during World War II. Upon his return, he continued working alongside his aunt until 1951. Recognizing the importance of preserving the O’Donnell legacy, William enrolled at the Renouard School of Embalming, graduating with honors. In 1953, he proudly opened the doors of the current O’Donnell Funeral Home at 908 Hanover in Allentown, solidifying the family’s commitment to serving the community with compassion and care.
There has and will always be a member of our family there to assist yours. We pride ourselves in being a family-owned and operated business. The second generation of O’Donnells, our father Kevin and Aunt Megan, continued to use The Golden Rule in our practices. We meet other families in a challenging time and we are intentional in doing unto them as we would have done unto us.
“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others”
