Established in 1986, Avitabile Deli was created by Giovanni (John) Avitabile. Originally started in a small town called Agerola, around Naples Italy. He and his family made mozzarella from raw milk. Both, his talent and skills allowed Giovanni the courage to open a Cheese Store along with other Imported Italian Products in a predominantly Irish neighborhood. John’s wife, Maria, who comes from an even smaller town called Esperia in the province of Frosinone, Italy, became part of the team in the expansion effort. Her culinary skills allowed Avitabile Deli to expand its menu by introducing hot lunches and catering for any occasion. As the business continued to grow, Maria’s son, Joe, joined in the efforts to further expand.
