Out-of-School Relationships Between Parents and Staff
Although we feel there is no babysitter better than your childʼs teacher, staff members are not permitted to babysit, working for, or socialize with parents of the school to maintain professional boundaries and uphold the integrity of the educational environment. This separation ensures impartiality, preventing favoritism or bias that could affect classroom dynamics.
This policy, of course, does not apply to teachers who also have family members as parents of the school. Particular care is given to keep professional boundaries.
From a Liability Perspective Schools can be held accountable for situations involving teachers, parents and students outside supervised settings. If a teacher babysits or engages in unsupervised activities, any incidents—such as accidents or allegations—could implicate the school, even if they occur off-campus. Alden prioritizes clear boundaries to minimize legal risks and ensure safety.
Teachers with Children at Alden Teachers who have children in Alden classrooms may attend birthday parties or classroom get-togethers that their child attends.
Social Media As we navigate our every changing world in regards to personal social media. We discourage teachers from friending families on social media.
