Anatomy of a Montessori Classroom
A. Technology

B. Montessori Materials
Hands-on materials help students investigate concepts, organized from the concrete to the abstract.
The Materials are so beautiful, they are begging to be worked with!
C. Classroom Decor
The environment is decorated with
soft colors, art, plants and natural light which creates a calming atmosphere.
L. Group Seating
Students sit at group tables This promotes collaborative work and respect for the students working close by.
Working productively with peers makes the work just that much more fun!
K. Self-directed Learning
Students direct most of their own learning, fostering independence and empowering them.
J. Floor Work
Large open areas allow for students to spread out and and work on the floor. This is especially wonderful for works like the 50-million-year timeline of the Jurassic Period!
