The purpose of the Auction is to support the Georgian Peaks Foundation. The GP Foundation is responsible for all fundraising activities and has two objectives:
1. Financially support our exceptional young athletes in Alpine and Freestyle. Over the years, the Foundation has helped Peaks’ athletes pursue their dreams of competing at top levels in all disciplines including ski racing, ski and snowboard freestyle. We are very proud that we have a number of elite athletes on the current Canadian National Alpine and Freestyle Ski Teams as well as the current Ontario Ski Team. This season we are very proud to sponsor 19 Peaks’ athletes with total sponsorship dollars exceeding $58,200.
2. Sponsor infrastructure projects at the Peaks. The Peaks Foundation has accomplished a great deal including the Finish Hut on Slalom, upgraded facilities on Orchard and Riot, improvements to timing, scoring and on-hill public address systems, Bag Jump, sound system on Riot, rebuilding the Winnie the Pooh Forest fun zone, upgrading the sound system in the Terrain Park on Chimo, replacing the Race Start Huts at the top of Rogers and Race Grade, the upgrade to the lower Terrain Park, the “Stories from the Hill” project and refinishing the swimming pool at West Lodge.
