Welcome to NJC’s 60th Anniversary Gala! Félicitations à tous les membres des comités, les sponsors et les individus qui ont joué un rôle dans les préparations de cet évènement important dans la vie de notre école! I would also like to thank Marc Kielburger ’95 who has embraced this celebration from the very beginning and supported our cause, not only as an alumnus but as a generous sponsor, an avid supporter and as an enthusiastic volunteer as host of this special Gala night. Merci, Marc.
I could not be more honoured and privileged to be a part of this extraordinary school as we celebrate its 60th anniversary. I would like to salute all those who have made these first 60 years of this unique school possible, including all alumni, their parents and guardians, the members of staff and faculty over these years as well as the members of the Conseil de fondation and the Canadian Advisory Committee, the host families who offer such a rich experience for our students, and past Heads of School: Mr. Leonard Wilde, Mr. James Thayer, Mr. Murray Magor, Dr. Jim McMurtry, Ms. Nancy Edwards and Mr. Norman Southward. All of these people have invested a large part of their lives and careers in the mission of our school. They built on the vision of our founding Head of School, Mr. Leonard Wilde, by expanding the educational landscape of young people to see a world beyond their own home community, and helped them to appreciate the larger world by developing the confidence and independence to take leadership roles in their adult lives. There are nearly 5,000 alumni around the world who have benefitted from Mr. Wilde’s vision, and the number continues to grow.
J’ai eu le plaisir de fêter avec l’ensemble de notre communauté les 40ème et 50ème anniversaires du Neuchâtel Junior College en tant qu’ancien directeur. Cette année, j’ai le bonheur immense de fêter le 60ème anniversaire comme directeur actuel. J’espère de tout coeur que ceux qui viendront après nous sauront perpétuer la vision à l’origine du NJC, et ce pour les 60 prochaines années à venir! Félicitations à toutes celles et à tous ceux qui font partie de la communauté du NJC !
