Congratulations to Sam Kennedy ‘02 for creating Feltro, which is an interactive construction toy — a modern take on classic building blocks. Made of felt and edged with magnets, each piece connects to
the next. With an emphasis on play as a process, Feltro nourishes the imagination and enables discovery. Build yours! www.playfeltro.com

Alumni Adventures
Chanel Bolta | NJC ‘05
Studying in the land down under
Chanel is currently living on the Gold Coast in Australia. She graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Science from Trinity College at the University of Toronto in 2010. During her studies, she was awarded a scholarship from U. of T. to participate in a unique and challenging topics field course in ecology and conservation in the Amazon Rainforest, Galapagos and the Andes Mountains in Ecuador. Chanel spent a month studying and conducting biological research alongside her peers, which included a rare opportunity to live amongst scientists at the Tiputini Biodiversity Station in the midst of the Amazon Rainforest.
After graduating U. of T., Chanel continued her studies with an
acceptance to the School of Dentistry at Griffith University, Gold
Coast in Australia. She is presently completing her third year
of dentistry, with another two years remaining in Australia. In
addition to her extensive studies, she has held an ongoing executive position as a dentistry representative in Hope4Health, a non-profit organization and registered charity founded by Griffith University medical students. Alongside her colleagues, she aims to improve health outcomes for local, rural, indigenous and international communities.
Nurturing her passion for art and drama, Chanel performs in the yearly ‘Med Revue’ theatrical production, written by medical students, which involves satirical skits aimed at the Griffith University Medical School. Her extra- curricular creative output has also lead to co-creating, co-writing, co-directing, and acting in her dental school’s inaugural comedic video, also a satire. With her «Aussie» certification in scuba diving, she is thrilled to explore the Great Barrier Reef, as well as reefs in Fiji.
Chanel’s journey and thirst for adventure continues as she explores various countries across the continents on her study leaves. She is grateful to realize her life-long dream to «Go for the Gold...Live your dream!», with acknowledgement to the support of her family, friends, and her choices in life- altering opportunities instilled in her educational avenues, most notably NJC! When suitable opportunities arise, there is no hesitation.....pack the bags, grab the passport, hop the plane. Another page in the journey! Global education has no boundaries!
