● Student Services
NJC offers a very preferential class size ratio and for students who require some additional support, they are directed to their classroom teacher as a resource. Consultation will be arranged between student and teacher that is mutually convenient. Peer support is another avenue that has been used previously among small groups of students in terms of study groups. There may be options outside the school setting for additional academic support, however language barriers and comfort with the Ontario curriculum are challenges faced while in Switzerland by any outside tutor. NJC has had success in meeting the needs of our students in this regard in the past, providing the necessary support within the available resources. If they prefer to maintain their working relationship with a current tutor, students are also welcome to retain them and schedule sessions via video call.
● Resource Centre
The Resource Centre space at Neuchâtel Junior College has been repurposed to include university resources and reference materials. The Resource Centre space is supervised by a Guidance Counsellor, who holds guidance and advisor meetings, and it is available for student use during the entirety of the school day, as well as after school and on weekends. Additionally this room is used for exam or study provisions for students with Individual Education Plans, and as a breakout room for group projects for students.

NJC Community Resources
NJC is fortunate to have connections to a range of community resources, in part because of our Swiss staff, but also because of our traditional ties to other secondary schools.
Each year, we host a student exchange with the Lyce Jean-Piaget, facilitated by our French instructor Sarah Bergeron-Laliberte. We also participate in a ski trip with the school and on occasion collaborate on other field trips. These arrangements have created multiple opportunities for our students and teachers to learn more about one another, and for NJC students to make connections to local youth.
In addition, over the years we have established a relationship with a local music store, where we rent instruments and seek advice about avenues for our students to join local bands or participate in musical events.
We also have an excellent relationship with the Canadian Embassy in Bern. Each year, members of its consular team visit NJC to talk to students about a range of topics, from safe travel to diplomatic careers.
Some years, NJC students have been employed by the embassy as interns.
Our community also includes a few coaches that have helped students to join local rugby, cross-country, hockey, and ski teams. Some students have taken part in ski competitions across the country.
As well, we have been able to make connections to several youth service agencies via our staff. For example, our students now have access to an English-speaking counselor (therapist) face-to-face, and to one online.
