4. Despite the legal drinking age in Switzerland of 16 for the consumption of beer and wine, generally students may not frequent bars, pubs or nightclubs and/or drink alcohol during the school week. Exceptions to the latter may include special College events or some mealtimes in pensions. A separate memo on alcohol use is reviewed with students and communicated to parents for clarification purposes.
5. Students who plan to travel independently must obtain written permission from the Head of School in advance, as well as provide a trip itinerary and other details in case of emergency.
6. Students may not drive a car or motorbike, and may not hitchhike.
7. Students are expected generally to spend weekday evenings in their pension or at the College
for the purpose of studying. Normal curfew prior to a school day (Sunday to Thursday) is 10:30
p.m.; normal curfew on Friday and Saturday is 1:30 a.m.
8. Students are not to be absent from meals without notifying their host family in advance, and are
not to be absent overnight without permission from both the Head of School and their host
family.
9. Students are expected to respect differences of race, religion and ideas, and the people and
cultures of Switzerland and other countries they may be visiting.
10. At all times and places, students are expected to avoid behaviour which may cause others in the
College community discomfort or embarrassment.

The school calendar, inclusive of major academic dates and travel dates is provided upon enrollment to families.
TUITION, FEES AND GUIDELINES
In addition to being inspected by the Ontario Ministry of Education, Neuchatel Junior College is a member of Canadian Accredited Independent Schools (CAIS). As such, NJC is evaluated by
peer institutions on a regular basis and must meet or exceed high standards in key areas including purpose and objectives, values, curriculum, academic program, school and community, governance and financial practices. CAIS membership requires that the school be non-profit.
Tuition is set on an annual basis to cover operating expenses and to assist the College in meeting its strategic objectives.
To advance the College on an ongoing basis, activities to raise funds for investments beyond operating expenses, including capital improvements, bursaries, scholarships and endowment are conducted annually among NJC alumni and current families through the Annual Campaign and Major Gift Initiatives.
