From Our President
H ello from the build site. As we welcome another winter season, we have so much to look forward to and to be thankful for.
The energy around the new clubhouse is palpable. At the same time, I am sure many of you are feeling a wave of nostalgia. I know I am.
Think of all the moments lived in our Peaks Main Lodge....... while it’s showing it’s age and needs to be replaced, that space has gured in the lives of each one of us throughout the years.
Those of us of a certain age recall the years when we had our own stand-alone candy store and many a kid spent the family fortune on paper chits. That was how many of us learned to sign our names.
Founders on a Friday night was home to the High Country band and many a Kodiak boot hit the dance oor. Ladies Day dancing on the bleachers: right of passage. Men’s Day beverages on the deck in the sun and epic poker games pre-celebration.
The stories told around that bar could ll a novel.
The Club has seen its share of weddings and celebrations of life. New Year’s parties, live music and the Not So Wine Tasting nights which will go down in history as the best adult party on the Escarpment.
The deck has been rocked to its core every Lively Cup regardless of weather. Kids discovered lodge french fries, families did the two-hour picnic lunch in the ‘Green’ room and recently the fondue party was brought back to life.
Tears of joy and sadness were shed in that building, hands and feet warmed by the re, babies rocked to sleep.... lives enriched in a way we can’t quantify but know in our hearts.
While the Club will mark the closing of the doors throughout the season, I encourage you to spend some time re ecting over a pint and raise a glass to our Peaks family.
