those who wish to complete their secondary school education within a highly reputable Canadian independent school and subsequently attend university in North America, the United Kingdom or beyond.
Since all enrolled students are following a pre-university course of study, small class sizes, an enviable student to teacher ratio (10:1) and an academic achievement-focused environment are easily maintained. The average enrollment is 70 students each academic year.
With the exception of a few, classes are taught in English by a predominantly Canadian teaching faculty. Language and Visual Art classes are instructed by Swiss teachers who are fluent in English.
Curriculum
The foundation of all courses is the Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum. NJC is inspected by the Ontario Ministry of Education on an annual basis and is categorized as an Independent Ontario Secondary School located abroad.
NJC students experience a rigorous pre-university program of study, following one or both of these academic streams:
1. Students earn Ontario Grade 12 credits leading to the granting of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) and entry into university in Canada, the United States and other countries (details on page 7).
2. Students may prepare for the College Board’s Advanced Placement (AP) examinations in select subject areas that afford students the opportunity to gain university credit or advanced standing, or both, at universities worldwide (details on page 22).

Ontario Student Record (OSR)
The College will add the credits obtained at Neuchâtel Junior College to each student’s Ontario Student Transcript (OST). The OST remains permanently in the College’s Ontario Student Record (OSR). An OSR is the official record of a student’s educational progress, and is established when a student enrolls at Neuchâtel Junior College. The OSR contains achievement results, credits earned and diploma requirements completed, and other information important to the education of the student. Students and their parents (if the student is not an adult) may examine the contents of the OSR. These records are protected by the Education Act and freedom of information legislation.
