NEUCHÂTEL JUNIOR COLLEGE
GUIDELINES FOR BUDGETING A FULL ACADEMIC YEAR AT NJC
CONTINUED
FEES
Registration Fee
A non-refundable registration fee is due upon enrollment and will reserve a place for the student. This fee is included in quoted tuition fee amounts.
Mandatory Travel
The Junior College has 4 mandatory school trips over the school year: 6-night orientation trip in Switzerland in September, mid-November trip to Belgium and France for the Remembrance Day period, Spring break trip(s) in April, and the Normandy trip in late Spring. All four trips are included in tuition fees. The Spring break options, of which all students must choose one, are a Greece/Italy classical civilizations trip or a service trip with Habitat for Humanity in eastern Europe.
Tuition Fee Payments
All fee payments are paid in Swiss Francs and directed to the Canadian Office in Toronto, remitted by wire transfer.
Tax Deductibility
Neuchâtel Junior College is a Swiss non-profit foundation and an independent secondary school. It is neither recognized as a post- secondary nor a degree-granting institution by Revenue Canada for tax purposes. Therefore, Revenue Canada does not allow the deduction of tuition fees, or any part thereof, paid to Neuchâtel Junior College.
FINANCIAL AWARDS
With thanks to the generosity of proud NJC alumni, their families, and supportive friends of the College, NJC is able to fund a number of generous bursary awards and a number of entrance scholarships. In recent years, bursary awards have been granted to successful applicants in amounts ranging from $5,000 to $30,000 CAD. Families are eligible to apply for assistance whether they are applying for a single semester or a full year experience. These awards offset some of the costs of tuition, some travel, or both.
Tuition bursaries are applied against tuition fees, which are paid in Swiss Francs. Travel bursaries are funded in Canadian dollars and are applied to optional trips costs, which are charged in Canadian currency. Travel bursaries are designed to enable students to travel to more destinations with their peers and are inspired by our Founder Leonard Wilde’s legacy of having bridged the gap for students who were short of travel funds in the early years.
The best advice to families who are vying for assistance is to apply as early as possible. The Awards Committee makes its decisions commencing with the December application deadline pool of applicants
