  NOTES
The small 91⁄2 inch dial indicates that the present clock was probably made within about 5 years of Joseph Knibb settling in London circa 1669/70.
The case has excellent proportions, the original carved walnut cresting is real bonus and overall the case has survived remarkably intact - the same can be said for the dial and movement.
Far too often with Knibb’s movements the pendulum suspension block is altered at some point in its 340+ year survival, but in this instance the suspension block with butterfly nut has survived, so too has the pendulum itself with the original butterfly finger piece just above the solid brass bob.
The movement retains the original pork pie bell, hammer, countwheel and majority of the strike wheel train.
Overall this is an outstanding quintessential example of one of London’s greatest clockmakers of the 17th century
