The Gympie Bypass
Community Day in
August
featured roving performances
by finalists from the Gympie
Music Muster 2024 talent
search, informative road
safety and project displays, a
vintage car and motorbike
display, free face painting
and market-style stalls with
food and beverages.
A drone photographed the
scene and the crowd spelling
out the word ‘GYMPIE’ on
the new highway.
15 RCC member cars lined
the side of the highway and
some members did the walk
on the new tarmac.
Although everyone had to
stay in situ until 4.30pm the
Club tent provided shade and
a welcome rest and gossip
point.
Surprisingly, this was not the
G r a n d O p e n i n g a s
anticipated as a section of
the new road is in need of
more attention. It is due to
open early in October.
