LUNCH à la Française Sunday 10th September
at Le Relais Bressan Balmoral Ridge
Our Club Members were asked to make
their own way to our French rendezvous
(meaning no convoy or morning tea stop en
route), and most arrived at Le Relais Bressan
by, or before, midday. Unfortunately, one
couple (David and Julie – new members who shall be nameless) managed to get lost... driving around Flaxton for about 45 minutes before finding us at the restaurant (they forgot to take with them the mud map thoughtfully provided in Beep Beep previously).
Thierry and Cindy (owners of Le Relais Bressan) were – as usual – very welcoming and it wasn’t long before everyone found a seat at one of the tables in Thierry’s alfresco dining area. Thierry is a long-time car fancier, and he had his gorgeous Mogan proudly on display on the front lawn.
Everyone agreed that at $40 per head (and BYO wine) it was a very good price, in a lovely French restaurant, with a very convivial French host.
Apart from baskets of warm and luscious bread, Thierry put an extra dish of the lamb cassoulet on each table for the members to taste (in addition to their ordered selection).
It must be added that Thierry and Cindy had just returned from France the week before and the restaurant wasn’t ‘officially’ open, but he opened it especially for our Club. Thanks Thierry !!
Most – if not everyone – remarked how good the venue and meals were and it was suggested to me (by a number of members) that we make it a twice-a-year event.
The weather was trying to make up its mind in the early part of the day but by early afternoon, the sunshine managed to push most of the clouds away.
