     MARCH MEETING
Car run via Peachester to Caloundra Tavern for lunch
Thanks to Joan and David Bruce for arranging the event.
Winding through the hills and country lanes was a most enjoyable drive and at the Heritage Centre in Peachester there was plenty of space to park up. There was also a roomy under-cover area to spread out for morning tea.
Members were keen to hear the short talk on the complex, the artefacts and the people remembered in many of the displays which included Inigo Jones. Afterwards there was time allowed to browse the beautifully presented museum pieces which included photos of Joan Bruce as a child, which was lovely! Also delicate lacework, delightful embroidery and some other feminine handiwork amongst the amazing whittled pieces, saws, engines and the centrepiece 1944 Chev Blitz. Many thanks go to the delightful and knowledgable volunteers who explained the stories behind the Museum and the items on show.
Then we were off again towards the coast and Caloundra... a few drop-top passengers getting more than a splash from a passing heavy shower on The Bruce! By the time we arrived at the Pelican Waters Tavern all was sunny again so we could admire the view across the water while we tucked in to welcome drinks and lunches.
Although there were some stormy clouds lurking in the distance hopefully everyone made it home before it rained again.
Joan and David provided a route with the most interesting visit to Peachester for which very many thanks.
